FAQs

Do you accept insurance?

Currently Ascend Counseling is in network with BCBS PPO, Aetna, Optum/United Healthcare, Medicare and self-pay.

What if you do not take my insurance?

If you are out of network you will pay the rate of $200 for your initial intake session and $170 for all subsequent sessions.  You will be provided with a super bill that you can then submit to your insurance company.  We cannot guarantee those sessions will be reimbursed by your insurance company.

Do you offer free phone consultations?

Yes we do offer for prospective clients to have a 20 minute free of charge phone consultation prior to booking an appointment.  We believe that finding the “right fit” between a therapist and client is the most important factor in therapy being successful.  We welcome you to request a consultation.

Do you offer telehealth therapy?

Yes, telehealth is always an option.  Telehealth can be convenient for those wanting to invest in therapy and take advantage of having sessions from the comfort of their own private space.

How do I cancel or reschedule my appointment?

You can either cancel or reschedule your appointment through your patient portal or you can reach out to your therapist directly.  Please note we have a 24 hour cancellation policy.  If you cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment, you will be charged a late cancellation fee of $100.

What should I expect therapy sessions to look like?

During your first session we will spend time getting to know one another.  We will review your intake paperwork and you will have an opportunity to ask questions about the therapy process. We will explore the issues that have brought you to therapy and together we will discuss your goals for therapy and develop a plan to address your concerns.  Therapy will be tailored to your own specific needs and goals.  Your treatment will not be a one-size-fits-all approach.

How long are the therapy sessions and how many sessions will I need?

Sessions will run for 53 minutes.  Therapy is tailored to the individual and the number of sessions may vary greatly from person to person.  Some clients see quick relief from their concerns after a few sessions but long lasting change typically requires more time and support.
